After years of waiting, I finally was able to attend the Country Living Fair. Vendors were everywhere with masses of treasures. Many amazing booth displays, so much eye candy! Junk has definitely made it to the big times. I remember when I was a kid and even as a teen when my mother would get the magazine. It seemed like it was just antiques with high dollar prices. I don't know if it's the economy or people upcycling/recycling and going green. Something is happening. People love junk! And they'll pay for it too.
The most exciting part of today I got to see Cari, from Cash and Cari on HGTV. She even bumped into me and excused herself (before I realized who she was).
I just happened upon her booth RePurpose. There were some really cool finds.
Cari was the fair's guest speaker. She talked about her family history of picking and repurposing. Also, she had slides of her home and her own upcycling. Cari prefers to reuse and she actually bought her living room furniture on Craig's List. There were a few sneak previews of next season's episodes (which starts in March).
Tune in tomorrow for part 2.
